Week 5: Prioritizing my wellness through yoga šŸ§˜šŸ¼

At the start of 2025, I made a commitment to prioritize both my mental and physical health as part of my New Year's resolution. Over the past few weeks, Iā€™ve shared different aspects of this experienceā€”my morning routine, hiking adventures, music preferences, concert experiences, and, most recently, my love for yoga. Attending yoga classes has quickly become one of my favorite ways to stay active and grounded. I typically go 3-4 times a week, and with a variety of classes availableā€”Barre, power yoga, vinyasa, and even chair yogaā€”thereā€™s always something new to challenge my body and mind. Making yoga a regular part of my routine has helped me start my mornings on the right footā€”both physically and mentally. As someone who has always hated early mornings, I never thought Iā€™d willingly roll out of bed for a workout. But surprisingly, yoga has made the transition a little easier. What makes this experience even more exciting is that I'm supporting a brand-new local studio that has ...

Week 4: Live Music

In my last post, I shared my taste in music and the artists I enjoy. I've always appreciated how music can articulate things I might not be able to put into words myself. Thatā€™s also why I love seeing it performed live. Going to concerts has become a big part of my mental well-being, offering a chance to step away from everything and just focus on the experience. Even if a bandā€™s original lineup isnā€™t in its prime, thereā€™s something about the energy of a concert that makes it worth it. The atmosphere, the crowd, and hearing those songs in real time add a different layer to the experience. It's more about being there and taking it all in rather than expecting a flawless performance. The energy of the crowd, the rawness of the music, and the atmosphere make the experience what it is. A big part of the experience is not only the artist(s) but also the venue and atmosphere.  I have been to many concerts throughout my life (currently 42!) and there are many different aspects that st...

Week 3: Music

Thereā€™s something about listening to music from a time I never lived through that just hits different. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, The Doors, Pink Floyd, and Lynyrd Skynyrd were making music decades before I was born, but somehow, their songs feel like theyā€™ve always been a part of my life. I canā€™t fully explain why I feel nostalgic for an era I never experienced. Maybe itā€™s the way Robert Plantā€™s voice carries so much power or how Stevie Nicks sings with a rawness that feels painfully real. Pink Floydā€™s trippy, layered sound pulls me into a different headspace, and The Doorsā€™ poetic chaos makes me feel understood in a way I canā€™t quite describe. Itā€™s like their music holds memories that arenā€™t mine but feel familiar anyway.  Listening to these bands makes me feel connected to the past. Itā€™s not just about the music itself but the stories and history behind it. I get curious about what life was like back then, what people were thinking, feeling, and rebelling against. O...

Week 2: Morning Routine

In my post last week, I talked about my approach to New Year's resolutions and how Iā€™ve been prioritizing my mental and physical health. One of the biggest changes Iā€™ve made is committing to a structured morning routine, which has completely shifted how I start my day. My 5:30 AM yoga class has become a non-negotiable part of my morningsā€”it gets me out of bed, wakes up my body, and sets a positive tone before the rest of my day even begins. Getting up early or before the sun is up, has always been a struggle for me. I am much more of a night owl than an early riser. While waking up early isnā€™t always easy, especially for me, Iā€™ve found that having a consistent morning routine makes a huge difference in my overall mindset in the morning. Beyond yoga, Iā€™ve started incorporating small but impactful habits into my mornings. Drinking a glass of water as soon as I wake up helps me rehydrate. Iā€™ve also made a conscious effort to avoid immediately reaching for my phone. I tend to want to s...
